#VanElxn2022 Results: A Sim Majority

There is a new mayor in town. With the unofficial results posted by the city of Vancouver, challenger Ken Sim will be elected the new mayor.

The official results will be declared by the Chief Election Officer on Wednesday, October 19th at 4 p.m.

Sim received 51% of the vote, defeating incumbent Kennedy Stewart. No other contender to an incumbent mayor has won in the last 42 years since 1980.

In 2018, Sim came in a close second in Vancouver’s mayoral race. Sim is a 51-year-old businessman without any political experience. His main priorities are to invest in public safety, address the housing crisis and make Vancouver a more vibrant city.

Sim, along with other former Coastal Front guests also received seats in the election. Christine Boyle of OneCity and Pete Fry from the Green Party of Vancouver are set to be elected as city councillors.
